Wrapping up 2011 as a year in review. Here is MSNBC covering how much damage was created by various disaster events. Are weather related disaster truely getting more prevalent? Comment on my blog I'd love to hear your opinions!

Here is a follow up on one of my blog posts about the Flooding in Thailand. It shows an inside visual and emotional perspective on what thousands of Thai citizens are going through on a day to day basis.

Extreme weather events becoming more frequent
This video produced by MSNBC alludes to the question we've all been asking. Is extreme weather truely becoming more frequent? We asked the same question in class and came to the conclusion that weather may not nessessarily becoming more frequent but that news stations are just deciding to cover it more. The video asks professionals if global warming is happening which they all say yes although their reasoning behind the record hot day to record cold day may need some backing. Dig up some facts, watch the video, and decide for yourself is extreme weather becoming more prevalent?

Freak snowstorm or East Coast exaggeration?
The East Coast may be notorious for over complicating their wide range of weather incidents but this storm may be an exception. A combination of wet snow and inches of accumulation caused widespread damage throughout the Northeast states.

The unintended consequeneces of severe drought can cause massive dust storms such as this one in Lubbock, Texas. 70mph winds created a 8,000 ft cloud of dust.

Flooding in Thailand
Deadly Thai floods also inundate World Heritage site
This video shows a prime example of in-tangible losses that can occur from a hazard event. Here a 400 year old World Hertitage site in Thailand is under threat of flooding.
